Press release submitted on behalf of UV4Good.
UV4Good, Chicago, Illinois, announced that it has received official US 501(3)(c) status in the United States. This establishes the official non-profit organization dedicated to providing access to clean drinking water for communities in need, like those impacted by the war in Ukraine.
In 2023, UV4Good was awarded a $25,000 USD grant by the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) as part of their Seeding the Future Foundation. UV4Good was selected from over 900 applicants to receive one of the eight grants awarded.
“We are thrilled to officially establish the UV4Good non-profit organization through this funding from IFT,” said Tatiana Koutchma, co-founder and Executive Director of UV4Good. “We believe that access to clean drinking water is a fundamental right and this support from IFT allows us to execute on this vision.”
In February, UV4Good was able to deliver 46 kits that provide clean drinking water to Ukrainian civilians. The organization plans to expand the distribution of these kits through the funding from IFT and individual donations to their organization.
“The impact of these mobile kits on the communities impacted by the war in Ukraine is unmeasurable,” said Maksym Bazhal, Project Manager-Ukraine at UV4Good. “This non-profit status for UV4Good will allow us to expand our programs to deliver clean drinking water to those that need it most.
